The prestigious King's College Choir of Cambridge records Bruckner! The prestigious King's College Cambridge Choir presents Bruckner's religious vocal works. Recorded a few months before Sir Stephen Cleobury's death. Cleobury chose this program as his last album of recordings with King's College, and the tension between both Cleobury and the choir makes for a pleasant performance as well. Bruckner's religious vocal works number approximately 60, or about two-fifths of his total output, and his seven-part Ave Maria, WAB 6, is one of his early masterpieces and is widely regarded as one of his most popular unaccompanied religious works. The Mass in E minor, written for eight voices and wind instruments for the dedication of the dedication chapel of the New Cathedral in Linz, is a magnificent performance with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
