WITHOUT A NET", a two-hour-long live album featuring the last appearance of Brent Mydland, a major contributor to the Grateful Dead's late period, is reissued as a three-disc analog set with the latest remastered soundtrack! The Grateful Dead have been one of the longest-running and most bizarre adventures in American music history. For more than half a century, they have been the world's most beloved musical ambassadors of the psychedelic era, sending messages of freedom, love, and peace, and their one-of-a-kind presence is often described not as "just one band" but as a "cultural movement. In recent years, the Grateful Dead have released an archive series tracing their history through music and an anniversary edition celebrating their 50th anniversary, and now their ARISTA-era albums are finally being reissued on analog LP. In the summer of 1989, it was announced that the Grateful Dead were recording a summer tour for their upcoming live album. It was later revealed that they were also recording their acclaimed Fall 1989 and Spring 1990 tours. While fans were still hanging on to these rumors, WITHOUT A NET was released in the fall of 1990.Mixed from a 24-track analog tape, this live recording captures the Dead in all their glory during the Brent Mydland era, which ended in 1990, just before the album's release. Eyes of The World," "China Cat Sunflower" > "I Know You Rider," and a beautiful cover of Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy," a tribute to Brent, added at the end. It is over two hours long and can be called a sonic masterpiece by the Dead. Like the Dead's previous archival series and anniversary editions, WITHOUT A NET features the latest remastered material by Grammy Award-winning engineer David Glasser. Grateful Dead legacy manager and audio archivist David Lemieux is also producing this release.
