The Apollon Musergate Quartet, a talented Polish string quartet! The Apollon Musergate Quartet (Apollon Musergate String Quartet) won the first prize at the ARD Munich International Music Competition in 2008. They studied under Johannes Meisl at the European Academy of Chamber Music and were influenced by the Alban Berg Quartet at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Their performances are highly acclaimed and they have performed in major European concert halls, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also won major awards for young artists, including an ECHO Rising Star nomination (2010), BBC New Generation Artist (2012), and the Bolletti-Buitoni Foundation Award (2014). This album features their focus on Schubert's works (Schubert's "No. 1" and "No. 9," for example, which will be performed in Japan in 2019).The program begins with "No. 1" written as a young man and continues with "No. 13" written about 15 years later, showing Schubert's growth.
