The rise of Handel's writing style, and the excellent performance by veteran player Michael Keener, this collection of harpsichord suites, published in London in 1720, is an important work that demonstrates the diversity and innovation of his style. It includes a variety of types of music, from traditional four-movement pieces to pieces reminiscent of Corelli's trio sonatas. The fullness of compositional technique in the variations and fugues is also not to be missed. The collection has been well received throughout Europe and has influenced composers such as Bach, Mufat, and Rameau. Michael Keener was born in Switzerland in 1950 and is a veteran harpsichordist who studied with Leonhardt in Amsterdam.
