Nick Hakim is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and SSW whose self-released EP "Where Will We Go Pt. 1 & Pt. 2 EPs" in 2014 was a hit with its soulful voice and sound that exquisitely crosses over various genres. The EPs, "Where Will We Go Pt. 1 & Pt. 2 EPs," were highly acclaimed by the New York Times, NRP, and other prominent media, and the band quickly became the focus of attention among early listeners around the world. Now, they have decided to release their long-awaited debut album "Green Twins"! Born in Washington, DC and currently based in Brooklyn, Nick grew up surrounded by the rich and diverse city and its music. Having been exposed to a wide variety of music from South American folk and DC punk to Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Madlib, and MF Doom, it was only natural for Nick to blend these various genres together. Work on this album began after the mastering of the EP. He moved from Boston to Brooklyn, where he was living at the time, and spent time in his bedroom fleshing out the vague ideas that popped into his head. He took the demos to studios in New York, London, and elsewhere, and worked with engineers such as Andrew Sarlo to solidify the demos while maintaining the original elements of the songs.This work was influenced by artists ranging from Robert Wyatt, Marvin Gaye, and Shuggie Otis to My Bloody Valentine. The first single, "Bet She Looks Like You," was recorded almost exclusively in the bedroom of his home. It is a superb piece of lo-fi soul music with a sweet voice over bluesy guitars.
