Description:
This is the second collection of Beethoven's (1770-1827) complete symphonies by Chinese-born conductor Lan Shui. He has been recognized by David Zinman as the assistant conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and his interpretation is unique in that he "carefully reads the score to find even the notes hidden between the lines," just as Zinman did. As assistant to Kurt Masur with the New York Philharmonic, Zinman is a highly accomplished Beethovenian, and his performance of the first album has been highly acclaimed. He has also succeeded in creating an exciting sound by using period instruments only for the trombones. Recorded by the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra from 2011 to 2013. (C)RS
