Seven of Stereolab's studio albums are being reissued in 2LP editions that faithfully reproduce the original source material! A limited number of these albums will also be available with Japanese-language obi! Seven of Stereolab's studio albums are being reissued in new 2LP editions by Duophonic UHF Disks / Warp Records! This release features remastered material that was released in an expanded edition in 2019. In addition, the high quality of the music was cut by Beau Condren (Calyx Mastering) from the original 1/2" tapes and supervised by Tim Gaine. Each album is packaged in a single 5mm wide sleeve and a printed inner sleeve with a protective PVC outer bag. Each album will also be released in a limited quantity with a Japanese wraparound obi! The album is one of the most influential albums in the post-rock, electronica, and "sound school" music scene, and was made famous by the appointment of John McEntire and Jim O'Rourke of Tortoise as co-producers. Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night" is Stereolab's sixth studio album, released in 1999. The album attracted attention when John McEntire and Jim O'Rourke of Tortoise were recruited as co-producers, and it was also a work that was closely examined in the context of post-rock, electronica, and "acoustic" music, which was at its peak at the time. This album is a departure from the hard disk recordings of the previous album, "Dots and Loops," in that all performances were recorded live and then reworked on a computer. The approach to rhythmic structure and texture, which is the theme/motif of this album, "repetition" and "minimalism," has been changed through the focus on rhythm, and can be heard in the songs, half of which were written by McEntire and the other half by O'Rourke.The style, which mixes Brazilian-influenced rhythm work and jazz-influenced sound with occasional peeks of electronic music and minimalist vocals, is taken to a deeper level through a more organic combination of live performance and post-production throughout the recording process for this album.
