The complete Bartók piano works have been ongoing on the NAXOS label for over 20 years. The previous seven collections were all performed by the virtuoso Jene Jandoh, but this eighth collection is performed by Fulop Larnki, whose father is Dejer Larnki. In this eighth collection, however, Fürop Lahnki, whose father is Dejer Lahnki, presents a new image of Bartók with the same technique and musicality as his father. Recorded here are Bartók's first work, "Rhapsody," and another early work, "Variations," also by Bartók. The "Three Exercises" bring out the flexibility of the pianist's hands, and an excerpt from his masterpiece "For Children. The "Rhapsody," written by the young Bartók, who was greatly inspired by the salons of Emma Grubel (later Kodály's wife), consists of a fantastic section and a rapid finale, and the work is dedicated to Emma, the hostess of the salon. Still less folkloric, it has an atmosphere closer to Liszt's work. The "Variations," based on a melody by his friend Faricy Fabian, is another romantic piece.
