Albert Ketelby is an English composer known for his works with familiar melodies, such as "In the Persian Marketplace. At the age of 13, he received a Queen Victoria Scholarship to attend Trinity College of Music, where he studied with Gustave Holst. At the age of 16, he was appointed organist at St. John's Church in Wimbledon, and after his contract ended, he became music director of the Vaudeville Theatre and became very active in the world of light music. This album contains some of his best-known works, such as "At the Persian Market" (with male chorus) and "In the Abbey Garden," which describes birdsong.
