Rare live performance by the Oscar Peterson Trio in Zurich, Switzerland, 1971. Niels Pedersen (b) and Lewis Hayes (ds) joined the trio for this "once in a lifetime" performance. In 1971, Peterson toured with Niels-Henning Elsted Pedersen (b) and Lewis Hayes (ds), a rare trio that never performed together again. This album is a recording by Radio Zurich of a concert at the Congress House in Zurich, Switzerland, which they visited on the same tour. This is the world's first previously unreleased work. The title tune "On a Clear Day" is a popular song that was also included on the album "Girl Talk" released by MPS in 1966. It is a fun song to listen to and compare. It also includes plenty of drum and bass solos unique to live performances. Produced by Oscar Peterson's wife, Kelly Peterson, this is a good-tempered work in which you can enjoy Peterson's verses on all the songs.At the time of recording, Peterson was 46, Niels Henning was 25, and Lewis Hayes was 34. The performances of these three musicians from different careers and ages are still moving today, 51 years later. Producer Kelly Peterson hopes that amidst the gloom of the pandemic, the audience will enjoy this album, which "shows eternity on a clear day.
