The Queen of Showbiz, Cher's first and second solo albums from her folk-rock period are back in 2-in-1! The first two solo albums, "All I Really Want To Do" (September 1965) and the second "The Sonny Side Of Cher" (April 1966), which marked the beginning of Cher's career as a singer, actor, and TV entertainer, are included. The first half of this disc ([1]-[12]) is the entire first "All I Really Want To Do" (Sep 65/US #16, UK #7). Recorded at Gold Star Studios in Hollywood, which is well known for Phil Spector/Beach Boys ("Pet Sounds"). Produced and arranged by Sonny Bono. The album is anchored by three Bob Dylan songs [1][4][12], known for the Jackie DeShannon (63/original) and Searchers (64) versions [3] (by Bono & Jack Nitsche), and Pete Seger's anti-war song (by Bono), also featured by Judy Collins (64) and The Byrds (65). Pete Seeger's anti-war song (1958) [7], also featured by Judy Collins (1964) and The Byrds (1965), was also a popular folk-rock song at the time.The latter 12 songs ([13]-[24]) are from the second album "The Sonny Side Of Cher" (April 66/US #26, UK #11). The production is basically an extension of the previous album (no musician credits), but the arranger has been handed over to Harold Batisti, who has been with the band since the Caesar & Cleo days. This time, only one Dylan number [18] was recorded, and instead (?), a Dylan number was included on the album. Instead, two songs by Bob Lind, who was described by some media at the time as "the new folk-rocker" and "the new Dylan" [17][20], are included. ～Commentary: Masaru Konishi
