(Dai Onoshima)Since its formation in 1991, dip, led by vocalist and guitarist Zuhide Yamajika, has been gaining enthusiastic support both in Japan and abroad as a unique Japanese alternative rock band, with Johnny Marr of ex. The band qyb [read: qyb] is a three-piece band with Yamaji and Kazuyuki Kuhara (Dr. The Birthday, etc.), who has served as producer for many years on albums such as "neue welt" [read: "neue welt"], released in 2014. He is the bass player in [read: qyb]. Former member of Muscle Shoujo Belt, also active in Train with Kenji Ohtsuki, Jun Togawa solo project, Wooden Fish, Phnom Penh Model, etc.) passed away suddenly in a car accident in 2019. In the absence of his musical partner who had been his flag-bearer, it took some time for Yamaji to get into the mood to start working on the new album, due to the increased chores and restrictions imposed by the Corona Disaster, which forced him to leave the management office at the time and start self-managing his own projects.However, as we entered the year 2023, Makoto Ayukawa of Sheena & Rokkets, who performed with us as a member of the same band at the live event for the 10th anniversary of Kameido Hardcore last October, suddenly passed away in January, and Yamaji, who was approaching 60 years old, thought about his priorities in his future musical life, and decided that the three of us in dip The production of dip finally began due to the possibility of special evolution and the belief that "a band that does not write new songs should be disbanded. At the time of formation, we were strongly influenced by the new rock of the 90's such as SONIC YOUTH, PAVEMENT, DINOSAUR JR. and MY BLOODY VALENTINE, as well as by TELEVISION, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, PINK FLOYD and CAN, which we had liked before that. Now, the essence of these influences are well mixed and sublimated into dip's unique music with Yamaji's vocals and guitar over the solid, driving beat created by the rhythm section of Nagata and Nakanishi. Since 2013, Yamaji has been playing at Fuji Rock every year with Junji Ikehata of ex.THE ROOSTERS. In 2019, he joined Jun Togawa's YAPOOS as an official member after performing as an emergency pinch hitter at Jun Togawa's concert in Okayama, 3 days after BERA Ishizuka's sudden death. He is also active outside of dip, playing in Shinya Oe's band ex.THE ROOSTERS.
