While studying piano at the Moscow Conservatory, he also studied composition under Taneyev, whose talent is said to have been highly praised by Métnér and Scriabin. However, he suffered from a mental illness, and despite treatment, he was unable to fully recover and went into the water, ending his life of 26 years. Ekaterina Derzhavina, whose complete Haydn piano sonatas on the Profil label have been well-received, is now a member of the Haydn Orchestra, and she has been invited to perform the Haydn Sonatas in the "Russian Bach" series. This time, she has realized an album of Stanchinsky's works, which she is particularly particular about. Born in 1967, Deljavina studied at the Gnessin Music School under Vladimir Trop, and taught at her alma mater from 1993-2006, as well as at the Moscow Conservatory from 2003.
