Marc Albrecht & the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra (Netherland Philharmonic Orchestra) recorded R. Strauss' "Life of a Hero" and Burleske. Born in Hanover, the son of conductor Georg Alexander Albrecht, Marc worked as Abbado's assistant and studied at various opera houses in Germany before becoming Music Director of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, its chamber orchestra, and the Netherland Opera in 2011, Netherland Opera was awarded "Opera House of the Year 2016," and on the PENATONE label he has collaborated with the orchestra on the Mahler series ("Songs of the Earth" (PTC5186502), Symphony No. 4 (PTC5186487), "Mahler Song Cycles" (PTC 5186576)) and many other discs, all of which have been highly acclaimed. In "Life of a Hero," which depicts the composer's own life, Albrecht plays with great volume and vivid expression, and his performance is magnificent.On the other hand, the Burleske with Denis Kožuhin as soloist beautifully expresses the dialogue between crisp piano and orchestra, and Albrecht's specialty is a refined ensemble with an exquisite balance of sound.
