The Great Clarinetist Krecker Discovers His Secret Pieces2016 marks the 80th anniversary of the birth of the great clarinetist Dieter Krecker. He was a German clarinetist and musicologist, and is best known for founding the Consortium Classicum in the 1969s, a group of leading orchestra principal players and music academy professors who revived various wind works from the 18th and 19th centuries. He has discovered numerous works by unknown composers of Mozart's time and has developed a new repertoire by performing these works. A compilation of his works was released in 2012 as a 7-disc box set (MDG 301 17752), and this is another 4-disc set to further explore his art. It includes a variety of secret pieces from the Classical and Romantic periods, including Schubert's passionate "Military March." Universal Music/IMS
