Carey will release his new album, Break Me Open, on April 22, 2022 on Jagjaguwar, the second longest-running member of Bon Iver as a songwriter, producer, versatile instrumentalist, and It is a personal and collaborative work from the songwriter, producer, versatile instrumentalist, and second-longest-serving member of Bon Iver. Four years since his last album, "Hundred Acres," Carey has produced 10 songs during this most challenging and transformative period of his life. Through recording at his home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, working with co-producers Chris Messina and Zach Hanson at their studio in Gualala, California, and the revelation of a peaceful moment of fly-fishing in Montana, Carey has faced a broken marriage, the passing of his father, and his children's growth. Faced with the loss of his marriage, the passing of his father, and growing children, Carey created Break Me Open with overwhelming gratitude and generosity. Over the past decade, Carey has become an integral collaborator within and outside the Bon Iver community, participating in Sufjan Stevens' "Carrie & Lowell" and writing and producing with Low and others.At the same time, he has nurtured his own work through a variety of themes. With "Break Me Open," he has recorded more co-writings on record than ever before. Break Me Open not only opened up his sources of inspiration, but also welcomed many voices into his world.
