Description:
Sergei's grandson, Gabriel Prokofiev! New Recording of Saxophone Concerto & Bass Drum Concerto! Gabriel Prokofiev (Gabriel Prokofiev), whose grandfather was the great Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, is a London-based composer, producer and DJ. He creates his own unique music with roots in classical music, incorporating club, hip-hop, and other dance music and electronics. Signum Classics in the UK presents a new recording of two concertos by Gabriel Prokofiev. The new 2016 Saxophone Concerto, written for the great American jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis (brother of Wynton Marsalis), is a classical concerto that dares not to be a "jazz concerto" in order to express the saxophone in a new musical form The concerto is a classical concerto that does not become a "jazz concerto. Even so, it seems to contain jazz-like rhythms and sounds that arise naturally and intuitively. The first movement is also marked "alla Hip-hop," and we can look forward to the dance music elements that are Gabriel Prokofiev's forte.Bass Drum Concerto (2012), written for percussionist Joby Burgess, a core member of the contemporary ensemble Power Plant, is a work that expresses amazing versatility through the use of a single bass drum (large drum). The sound is produced not only by changing mallets, sticks, brushes, etc., but also by changing the rim, frame, strings (?), and various other parts of the drum. The sound is produced from various parts such as rims, frames, strings (?), etc., creating a variety of colors and textures. Tokyo M-Plus
