Krzysztof Fils, a talented Polish gambist under the tutelage of Vittorio Gielmi, has been active as both a Villa da gamba player and a double bass player. He is active in both the modern and period music scene, playing with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, as well as with the Polish Old Music Orchestra {oh! The six sonatas by Abel included in this recording were recently discovered and published by the Polish musicologist Sonia Wronkowska in a manuscrpt called the "Marzahn Collection," and the recording is also valuable.
