Oleg Komarnitsky (1946–1998), a composer born in Moscow. During his relatively short life of 52 years, he composed a wide variety of music. His works span a broad range—including pieces for orchestra, choir, chamber music, solo instruments, and works for children—but they were rarely performed outside of Russia. Furthermore, most of these works have been lost, and only the four chamber music pieces included here remain. While his chamber music is imbued with lyricism and melancholy, his piano pieces, in contrast, are lively and evoke a sense of dynamism reminiscent of Prokofiev’s music.
