Laura Misch, a London-based multi-artist and producer who is the older sister of Tom Misch. Two and a half years after her critically acclaimed debut album, her highly anticipated second album, *Lithic*, is released via One Little Independent. Laura Misch’s second album, *Lithic*, is being released via One Little Independent Records. *Lithic* is a cavern born of emotion and primal force. Sound and existential thought echo within its fissures, while ancient history lies hidden deep within the stone. Shattered by the passage of time, eroded by wind and rain, and awakened by voice, body, and breath, this album traces sound back to its origins, unearthing music summoned from the depths of the earth and from our darkest corners. While Misch’s acclaimed debut album *Sample of Sky* (2023) drifted above the earth on a cloud of sound, followed by its acoustic version *Sample of Earth* (2024), *Lithic* depicts a journey guided by geology and the elemental forces of wind, water, and stone, descending into profound time. The conceptual foundation of this work is rooted in the practice of deep listening, eco-acoustics, and geology. Inspired by Barbara Hepworth, Pauline Oliveros, Annea Lockwood, eco-psychotherapist and author of *Weathering* Ruth Allen, and the writings of David Haskell on the origins and evolution of sound, *Lithic* treats sound as an ancient material—an entity capable of changing shape, weathering, and transforming over time. This is a deeply feminine work that traces the rugged yet soft boundaries of aging—like the weathered wrinkles etched on a face or the worn fissures found on the surface of a rock.
