Goswang, a Flemish musician active in the late Renaissance in the late 16th century, was a master of the Flemish music school, active in western Germany. Goswang, a Flemish musician active in the late 16th century, was born and raised in the bishopric of Liège, in the eastern part of present-day French-speaking Belgium. He later moved to Bonn, where the court of the Elector of Cologne was located, and published several collections of music in Nuremberg. In addition, manuscripts have been found in Maastricht, Slovenia, and southern Austria, all of which are close to Liège Bishopric, and a Venetian anthology of madrigales includes some of his compositions, indicating his high reputation during his lifetime. This recording is an extremely rare album dedicated to Goswang alone, and features uncompromising interpretations of his works by Marc Levon, Elizabeth Ramsey, and other elite players of medieval and early Renaissance music, who provide a comprehensive introduction to his fascinating works.Goswang is recorded as a violinist at the court in Munich as early as the 16th century, and it is a pleasure to hear his activities interpreted by performers including Baptiste Romain (who also wrote the liner notes with English translations), a leading researcher on early violin music. The Renaissance era sheep-gut string instrument, which is different from the gamba and baroque violins, makes both polyphonic secular and church music sound more vivid and vivid. Naxos Japan
