Nils Viggo Benson, known as a symbol of contemporary Danish music, began his career in the 1940s and has composed more than 600 works for orchestra and voice. He has been described as creating works "as naturally as breathing. This album contains his early works written in a relatively classical style. Although the music is not clearly tonal, it is all very familiar and technical. The music is performed by pianist Ramez Maanna, born in 1992. After studying in Moscow, he graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. He currently lives and works in Denmark. Naxos Japan
