Description:

Thomas Dausgaard has served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra since 2014 and has been appointed Music Director beginning with the 2019/20 season. This coupling of two major works from Strauss and Scriabin, written at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, are both known for their departure from traditional forms and exploration of orchestral possibilities to the utmost limit. Dausgaard takes full advantage of the acoustics of Benaroya Hall, weaving three-dimensional music with the plush strings of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the smooth tone of the brass, which is not overpowering. A brilliant piece to mark his departure as music director. Naxos Japan
