Description:

Howard Arman, a native of England, is currently the music director of the Bavarian Radio Chorus. This time, he presents a program of Mozart's Requiem, a "Mass for an Evening". The opening piece is the "Solemn Evening of the Witnesses" interspersed with an antiphona (chorus of two choruses or two groups of singers singing alternately) accompanied by the organ, which Arman himself created. The Requiem, which follows, is based on Jussmeier's completed version, which Arman studied and revised mainly in the orchestration. In "Lacrimosa," for which Mozart left only eight bars, the following sections are performed in a completely new original by Arman, followed by the "Amen Fugue" by Mozart himself, which was discovered later. The last piece is "Libera me Domine" by Austrian composer Neukom. This was composed by Neukom for the liturgical use when Mozart's Requiem was performed in Rio de Janeiro, to fill in the missing parts of Libera Me. CD2 is the familiar German-language musical narrative of the series.In this work, "Requiem" is chosen as the subject matter, and Markus van Heffer writes dramatically about Mozart's life and feelings in his later years.
