In their previous album "Continuo, Addio!" (MU031), the Duo Tartini focused on works for violin and bass continuo born in the late Baroque period and played them as a duo with cello in a style that led to the Classical period. This issue focuses on Tartini, who represented this transitional period and whose death in 2020 marked the 250th anniversary of his death. Included are five unpublished sonatas from a manuscript brought back to France from Italy by Napoleon's troops in 1796 and now kept in its national library. The music is lively and musical, as one would expect from the composer to whom they are most devoted, and the interweaving of the voices, which is made possible by the absence of harmonic instruments, is truly fascinating, with some improvisation by Brantier, who has played in many old music ensembles, including Ensemble 415 and the Café Zimmermann.
