A collection of works by Danish composer Rasmussen. Many of his works are collages of past works, and his "Four Seasons" (8.226220), released in 2014, is a new reworking of a familiar Vivaldi work with rhythmic treatment. Rasmussen is thus a lover of works from the Italian Baroque period, and in the current release he presents two concertos with baroque violin and baroque oboe as solo instruments, accompanied by period instruments. The melody and harmony are modern, but the idyllic tones of the instruments played call for a mismatch, giving the work a curious flavor. The violin concerto "Sinking into the Mirror of Dreams," recorded at the same time, is a large work of over 30 minutes. Violinist Anne Su's superb technique is on full display. Naxos Japan
