Jody Carroll (Joe McMullian), a singer-songwriter and acoustic guitar and banjo virtuoso who wowed Japanese folk blues fans during a tour in Japan 10 years ago, presents his latest studio album after a 6-year absence! The album features a swampy band sound with bass and drums, in addition to his matured vocals and blues playing with superb guitar technique. This is definitely a masterpiece at the moment, featuring highly accomplished originals that convey the quality of the music, as well as a cover of Robert Johnson's "Eighteen". Jody Carol McMullian was born in California in 1968, and studied music and painting at the Art Institute of Los Angeles, absorbing various genres of music such as blues, folk, and country. She then moved her base to Portland and released her first album, "Under The Sun," in 2001. After releasing "Dredge" in 2004 and "Rain of Days" in 2006, "Get Inside This House" won the Best Self-Produced Album award from IBC in 2011. In parallel, he released "Swimming in Turpentine" in 2009 as the band Woodbrain.In 2014, he made his first visit to Japan with two albums, "Old Blood" and "Live at the Aztec Theater," where he received great acclaim for his outstanding guitar playing. He also performed at Marfest in 2018 and 2021 to great acclaim, releasing "Back to the Country" in 2018, followed by "Break Down the Plow" in 2023 and "Banjolero" in 2023 for limited distribution.
