Fulscher and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra Recording Bruckner's Unfinished Symphony No. 9 at their home base, the Josef-Keilbert Saal in 20222024The classical music world is abuzz with the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth, and a series of high-profile recordings are being released. Featured here is Bruckner's unfinished Symphony No. 9 by Jakub Frusha, who has served as chief conductor since 2016, and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Both have also recorded the Symphony No. 4 in three drafts (KKC-6613/ACC-30533CD), a substantial performance born of years of experience playing Bruckner On November 30, 1894, Bruckner completed the third movement of his Symphony No. 9. Like his other symphonies, it was intended to be a four-movement work, but Bruckner's health was already deteriorating at the time. The composition of the last movement was begun on May 24, 1895, 16 months before his death. He wrote up to measure 172 of this movement, after which the next 200 bars were partially orchestrated.Today, many supplementary and completed versions exist and are performed, but this time Fulscher performs up to the three movements completed by Bruckner. Jakub Frusha's contract with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra has been extended until 2029, and this new recording is the result of their good relationship. King International
