Born in São Paulo in 1988, Fabio Martino began taking piano lessons in Brazil at the age of five. He received a scholarship from the Magda Taliaferro Foundation to study under Armando Fava Filho, and in 2008, he went on to study at the Karlsruhe Academy. He has won numerous competitions, including first prize in a contest organized by the German Cultural Committee in 2011. This album, a co-production with Bayerischer Rundfunk, features a diverse selection ranging from the classical repertoire of composers such as Brahms and Schumann to newer works by composers like Krieger and Heller. Krieger’s “Interval Etudes” are particularly fascinating works; the music, which unfolds through intervals as the title suggests, is a true delight to the ear. Naxos Japan
