Yelizian's Khachaturyan Vardoui Yelizian, full of Armenian flavor, is a female pianist born in Armenia in 1981. She studied with Brigitte Engeler and Claire Désert in Paris, and is currently based in France, where she visited Japan for the 2011 La Forgeurne Festival. This album contains piano pieces written for children by her fellow countrymen Khachaturian, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev. While most of their piano pieces require advanced skills, these pieces are easy and short, and are popular for children's learning. Not only are they all accessible, but it is also intriguing that Khachaturian and Tchaikovsky's works are like a sketchbook of musical ideas that were later appropriated for ballet and opera.
