Homesick, electronic, adventure-filled Senegalese blues. Created by New Zealand jazz pianist Aron Ottignon and Senegalese percussionist Bakane Seck, this debut album weaves West African rhythms with contemporary electronic, soulful jazz and Afrobeat. Recorded in Berlin during the 2020 Lockdown, Dama Bëgga Ñibi is a reflection on home and family. "Sunugal" (A-2), a collaboration between Aron Ottignon, Bakane Seck, and Samuel Dubois, celebrates the beauty and strength of Senegal, blending traditional percussion with modern beats and Alle Mboup's soulful vocals. Mama Djuma" (A-3) is dedicated to Bakane's mother and granddaughter and features Gambian singer Toufa Mbaye. Each song is very colorful, emotional synth-funk, mesmerizing ambient soul.
