Johan de Mey's long-awaited collection of brass band works is finally released. The highlight will be the brass band version of Johan de Mey's masterpiece, Symphony No. 1 "The Lord of the Rings". Of the five movements, this CD contains the first, fourth, and fifth movements. The brass band version of this work won the Sadler International Symphonic Band Composition Award in 1989, and has since become a hot topic of conversation whenever the piece is released, leading the composer to become a hot composer. The brass band version of "The Lord of the Rings" will also be performed in a magnificent setting. The album also includes "Sinfonietta No. 1," which was composed for the Brass Band Championship 2011 in the Netherlands and used as a test piece for the Brass Band Championship 2011 in Switzerland. The "Canticle," featuring bass trombonist Brandt Attema as soloist, offers a wonderful performance by Brandt Attema and the Grimethorpe Colliery Band in perfect harmony. Brass band lovers, this is the long-awaited collection of Johan de Mey's brass band works.
