Known as the frontman of Water From Your Eyes and one of the leading songwriters in the current U.S. indie scene, Nate Amos is set to release his new album, *The Singer In My Band*, through *Matador Records* under his solo project, This Is Lorelei. In recent years, Nate Amos has garnered high acclaim through both Water From Your Eyes and This Is Lorelei. While leading successful tours across the country, he has steadily built his reputation. *Box for Buddy, Box for Star*, released in 2024 on *DoubleDoubleWhammy*, was highly praised by critics and gained a large following among listeners. Subsequently, a deluxe version featuring MJ Lenderman, Hayley Williams, and Jeff Tweedy was released, generating significant buzz. On *The Singer In My Band*, his first release since signing with *Matador Records*, Nate reimagines traditional American pop songwriting through his own unique sensibility. He crafts his signature brand of pop music by skillfully weaving humor and a sense of dissonance into accessible melodies. Many of the album’s tracks were conceived between stops on his world tour, with the landscapes he saw while traveling and the events he experienced along the way serving as the source of inspiration. The high-energy lead single “Billy Came Back,” released to coincide with the album’s announcement, was born from an idea that had been nurtured over a long period of time and has become a signature track of the album. *The Singer In My Band* features memorable characters such as Joey, Billy, Genevieve, and Sarah, with the story unfolding against the backdrop of landscapes across the United States. This world, where reality and fantasy intertwine, reflects the chaos and serendipitous events encountered during life on tour, culminating in a true road album. During the recording sessions, Nate handled everything from engineering and production to performing the music himself. The title track features his father, Bob Amos—a bluegrass musician—on banjo, as well as guest appearances by his sister, Sarah Amos, and his partner, Al Nardo. This album, which transforms the spirit of bluegrass—a genre she has been familiar with since childhood—into contemporary pop, showcases a new facet of This Is Lorelei’s songwriting.
