Thom Yorke releases the original soundtrack to the film "Confidenza" directed by Daniele Luchetti on <XL RECORDINGS>!
He has once again joined forces with the London Contemporary Orchestra to release the soundtrack, working with a jazz ensemble that includes Robert Stillman and The Smile band member Tom Skinner! The film will have its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and will be released in Italy on April 24.
XL Recordings has announced that the original soundtrack for Thom Yorke's "Confidenza" will be released digitally on April 26 and on CD and LP on July 12. In addition, the single "Knife Edge" was released along with a music visual starring Elio Germano and Federica Rosellini. The visual was re-edited with scenes from the film by Ael Darier Vega, who edited "Confidenza. The song "Prize Giving," a track from the film, was also released at the same time. The soundtrack's introductory track, "The Big City," was performed earlier in February by Thom Yorke within the playlist of The Smile's BBC 6 Music Artist in Residence series.
Confidenza follows the original soundtrack for Luca Guadagnino's 2018 remake of Suspiria, for which "Suspirium" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Composition in Visual Media. For "Confidenza," produced by Sam Petz Davies (Thom Yorke, "Suspiria"; The Smile, "Wall Of Eyes"), Sam Petz Davies and Thom Yorke teamed up again with the London Contemporary Orchestra, Robert Stillman and The Smile band member Tom Skinner, as well as working with a jazz ensemble that includes Robert Stillman, Thom Yorke will provide music for Edward Norton's Motherless Brooklyn in 2019 and the final Peaky Blinders in 2022. He has written two original tracks for the series.
Recently, Thom Yorke has been touring as The Smile (Thom Skinner, Jonny Greenwood, and Thom Yorke), and his second studio album, Wall Of, following his 2022 debut album, A Light For Attracting Attention On their most recent tour in March, the prolific trio performed more new material for The Smile. The Smile will resume their European tour in June and August.
The album will be released simultaneously worldwide on Friday, July 12, 2024. The domestic CD will be released in a high-quality UHQCD format with a commentary and bilingual lyrics, while the import version will be released on CD and standard black vinyl, as well as a limited-quantity cream vinyl and a limited-quantity cream vinyl with Japanese obi. The import version will be released on CD and standard black vinyl.
