Bach and Telemann who served as court Kapellmeister in Zellpst, Germany. Amid the transition from the Baroque to the Classical period, Fasch’s music—which anticipated the times through the use of the Galant style—played a crucial role in bridging the two eras. The repeated timpani rolls and the brilliant sounds and rhythms of the brass instruments in the “Overture in D Major” convey Fasch’s opulent and brilliant style, which sought to be at the forefront of its time.
