Riccardo Muti & Wiener Philharmoniker
Description:
Master Muti makes his first appearance in 14 years! The Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert The Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert takes place every year on January 1. The New Year's Concert is one of the most famous classical music events in the world and is broadcast from Vienna's golden Musikvereinsaal to more than 90 countries around the world via TV and radio, reaching 400 million viewers. In 2018, master musician Riccardo Muti, who has been Music Director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 2010 after stints with the Philadelphia Orchestra and La Scala in Milan, will perform the Strauss family's waltzes and polkas for the fifth time in 14 years (1993, 1997, 2000, 2004). This will be the fifth time in 14 years, following appearances in 1993, 1997, 2000, and 2004. This is the fifth time in 14 years, following 1993, 1997, 2000, and 2004. This is the same number of appearances in NYC since Maazel, along with Zubin Mehta, and is a proof of the trust of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.Since their first collaboration in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" at the Salzburg Festival in 1971, Muti has conducted the Vienna Philharmonic more than 500 times, and as only Muti, with whom the Philharmonic has the closest relationship today, can, we can expect a performance full of tension despite their close friendship. Andreas Grossbauer, former director of the Vienna Philharmonic, said of Muti: "The extremely high standard of the performances conducted by Maestro Muti is special in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic's performances. Maestro Muti's interpretations are the result of his meticulous study of the score and his love for the special sound of the Vienna Philharmonic. In addition to the standard works such as "The Blue Danube" and "The Radetzky March," the program consists of a variety of thematic works including various anniversaries of 2018, and includes eight works that are making their NYC debut. The program consists entirely of works that Muti will conduct for the first time, with the exception of "Short Things" and an encore piece that he featured in NYC in 1990. The inclusion of "William Tell Gallop" and "Cadreille at the Masked Ball," both of which incorporate famous melodies from the operas of Italian composers Rossini and Verdi, and "Tropical Roses," which is so popular that it has been called one of the "Ten Great Waltzes" of King Johann II and evokes Italy, is, of course, a tribute to Muti's homeland, Italy. The fact that "Tropical Roses," which is reminiscent of Italy, is also featured in this piece, is probably out of consideration for Muti's home country of Italy. The "Gavotte des Stefani" composed by the Hungarian composer Zybulka on the occasion of the marriage of Crown Prince Rudolf, the son of Franz Joseph I, the last emperor of the Austrian Empire, is also featured to commemorate the 160th anniversary of his birth, which is also unusual. The clear sound of the CD recorded by the acclaimed Teldex Studios and the beautiful images of the DVD/Blu-ray produced by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) will give you the luxury of enjoying a live musical feast in the golden hall of the Vienna Musikverein, which is beautifully decorated with many flowers. The DVD/Blu-ray will include special features (content to be determined)(1/2) Sony Music Inc.
