The 1997 European concert held at the Opéra Royal in the Palace of Versailles, a venue synonymous with luxury and splendor, is now available on Blu-ray. For this Blu-ray release, the concert footage has been restored to reproduce the beauty of the venue with even greater detail and clarity. Ravel's "Couperin's Tomb" at the beginning of the concert was performed by a woodwind ensemble that was as impressive as you would expect from the Berliner Philharmoniker. Barenboim played Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 13. Barenboim's fresh performance shines through. Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Hero" was dedicated to Napoleon.
