Turkish Folk Dances - Izmir/Sivas/Teke This work introduces folk dances popular in the Asia Minor (Anatolia) region of Turkey. The first part is a folk dance called "Zeibek" from Izmir, a city located on the Aegean Sea coast. It has many variations of time signatures and is full of variety. Then, a folk dance from Sivas, a city in central Anatolia that has been an important trading stop since the time of the Roman Empire, is introduced. The main melody has a slightly Asian flavor, giving it an oriental image. The last one is a folk dance from the Teke region in the southwestern part of Turkey, now called Antalya Province. Compared to the other two, many of the pieces have a more lively tempo, allowing the audience to enjoy a variety of tunes. Accompaniment is provided by davul, zurna, barlama, and khanun, as well as strings and various percussion instruments. A total of 42 songs are included. (From the manufacturer's information)
