Patti Smith, who signed a major record contract in 1975, has been traveling all over the United States, but CBGB is still her spiritual home. This recording is from August 11, 1979, and captures the moment when she gave an uncompromisingly masterful performance, even though her career had grown to the point where she sold out a 5,000-seat auditorium.
