The first Haydn: Keyboard Works collection by the virtuoso Peter Donohoe, winner of the highest prize in the piano section of the 7th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1982! Peter Donohoe's rediscovery of Haydn's works! Peter Donohoe is a pianist with a unique background, having worked as a percussionist for the BBC Philharmonic in his youth. He studied under such masters as Vlad Perlmutter and Olivier Messiaen, and won the highest prize in the piano section of the 7th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1982. He has a wide repertoire of modern and contemporary 20th century works by the Romantics, Shostakovich, Messiaen, and others. This is his fifth release on Signum, and the first of a series of Haydn's keyboard works. This fifth release on Signum is the first of a collection of Haydn's keyboard works, which includes piano sonatas as well as variations and divertimentos, and has made us rediscover the value of Haydn's keyboard works once again.
