Description:
Official NIFC release to commemorate the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition! Argerich and Moreira Lima! Live from the 1965 Chopin Competition! The final stage live performance of the first prize winner (Argerich) and second prize winner (Moreira Lima) of the 1965 Chopin Competition has been released by the original NIFC! In celebration of the 80th birthday of the Queen Martha Argerich, the Polish National Chopin Institute (NIFC) has released Argerich's treasured recordings! The live recording of the concerto performed by Martha Argerich, who won the first prize at the 7th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1965, and Artur Moreira Lima, who won the second prize, on the final stage will be reissued! Argerich from Argentina and Moreira Lima from Brazil, two great artists both from the South American continent, took over the Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, making the 7th International Chopin Piano Competition one of the most famous competitions in history. In the first stage, Moreira Lima was the favorite to win the competition with her extraordinary pianism and delicate, exquisite Chopin lyricism. She was Chopin himself, and it was as if she had arrived in a time machine and was a phantom. Argerich, on the other hand, captivated the audience with the first notes of the second stage and reigned for the rest of the evening. Her playing was full of tenderness and delicacy, but above all it was dominated by extraordinary energy and spontaneity. In 2021, when Argerich turned 80, Nelson Freire and Argerich both withdrew from the Chopin Competition due to illness, and Moreira Lima joined the jury in Freire's place. Argerich and Moreira Lima, who met such a strange fate, will enjoy a heated Chopin concerto duel that took place more than half a century ago. Tokyo M-Plus
