A chamber music album featuring three French violin sonatas composed in the second half of the 19th century! This is a collection of violin sonatas by three French composers that Alexandre Kantorov, a pianist of the moment, performed with his father Jean-Jacques Kantorov when he was 17 years old. Jean-Jacques Kantorov is a well-known violinist. There are many great recordings of him, but the French ones are exceptional. The sonatas recorded here were written by Camille Chevillard (1859-1923), Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924), and André Judarge (1856-1926), and are performed with great dignity. Since recordings of Chevillard and Judarge are scarce, it is a pleasure to have them on this disc. Born in 1997, Alexandre inherited his father's musical talent: at the age of 16, he performed Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the Sinfonia Varsovia at La Folle Journée in Nantes and Warsaw. The audience was enthralled by their outstanding technique and emotionally rich performance. He also became the first Frenchman to win the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019.The BIS label has released a series of discs, all of which have been highly acclaimed.
