Pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii takes on the epic and challenging "Hammerklavier" once again! Debut album on German Gramophone, first release in Japan! The "Hammerklavier," which Tsujii performed when he won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009, is one of the most difficult of Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas, both technically and in terms of the sheer size of the work. Tsujii says, "It is a long piece, so it was difficult to maintain my concentration. We spent a lot of time preparing for the recording. The third movement was particularly difficult. The more I played it, including making the music my own, the more I felt its depth. Beethoven's situation overlaps with my own experience.
