This is the fifth Blue Note recording, made 10 months after the debut disc. This is an excellent work by an unusual quintet, a two-top with Pepper Adams' baritone saxophone. The quintet plays a brilliant solo from "A Night in Tunisia," a favorite of the Dizzy Gillespie Orchestra, with whom the quintet had played in the past. The quintet also performs two of its own compositions for the first time, including the melancholy blues "New Ma.
