This is a hybrid release of SACD and MQA-CD of J.S. Bach's Viola da gamba sonatas! The performances are by Alejandro Marias, artistic director of the La Spagna Ensemble and professor of baroque cello at the Seville Conservatory of Music, and Holdán Humado, who has worked with many greats such as Jordi Savall and Neville Marriner. It has been suggested that the three viola da gamba sonatas on this album (BWV 1027, BWV 1028, and BWV 1029) may have been re-edited from different pieces, but the last one, BWV 1030 (originally a flute sonata), was written by the talented copyist Johann Friedrich Hering, and it is believed to be quite close to the early version.Eudora Records is an emerging label in Madrid, Spain, headed by Spanish recording engineer Gonzalo Noque.
