Scelzi Musicali (vocal & old instrument ensemble) Gwendoline Blondale (Soprano) Isabelle Drouet (Mezzo-soprano) and others Nicolas Acten (baritone, various stringed instruments, conductor) Recorded August 12-15, 2023 and September 14-17, 2023 at Dada Studios, Suharbeek (Brussels Capital Region, Central Belgium) Giulio Caccini made a major contribution to the development of solo basso continuo singing in Italy at the beginning of the 17th century, with his "Amarilli" (The Beautiful Amarilli) at the top of the list. He was famous as a singer, but his two daughters and sons were also active as musicians, and he also left notable achievements as a composer. Nicola Akten, who, like his father Giulio, plays basso continuo and sings solo, makes his recording debut with his father's opera "Euridice" (RIC 269), and has been active as a soloist with his own orchestra, the Scherzi Musicali, in this two-CD recording of the achievements of the Caccini daughters and father. The recording is based on the latest research on the history of music. The two daughters' amazing talent as well as their father's masterpieces are vividly conveyed on this CD, which also includes a contemporary work widely known as "Caccini's Ave Maria". This is a long-awaited project that only RICERCAR can present, and that will bring us closer to the true nature of Italian vocal music, which is the essence of Baroque music. (Naxos Japan)
