The "Moondog" is Lewis Thomas Hardin (1916-1999), a blind composer who lived on the streets of Manhattan and was known as the "Viking of Sixth Avenue" for his unique horned helmet and costume. His beautiful, haunting, and impressive music inspired Philip Glass and Steve Reich, and some have called him the "Godfather of Minimalism. Conceived as a collaboration between the Brooklyn-based Ghost Train Orchestra and the legendary Kronos Quartet, the project features a number of artists, including Marissa Nadler, Joan Wasser (aka Police Woman), and Jarvis Cocker, Moondog's music is being revived for the modern age.
