Based on the seven pieces Schumann composed in 1848 as a gift for his eldest daughter Marie on her seventh birthday, the "Album for Children" has undergone many changes, including the addition of new pieces and revisions. The album consists of 43 pieces in two parts, and although technically simple, it is a gem of a collection that reflects nature, the changing seasons, and Schumann's feelings. Cellist Anssi Kalttunen has arranged this collection for string trio. By using a wide variety of sounds, he succeeded in bringing out the full delicacy of the music and transforming it into a magnificent work. The rich lyricism in each of the simple melodies makes us feel the richness of the music. Naxos Japan
