Description:

This is the fourth collection of Josef Meiseder's works by Raimund Richey, a member of the Vienna Philharmonic. On this release, you will hear two of Meiseder's string quartets and a string quintet. Meiseder, who studied under Ignaz Spanzig, was a composer and teacher in the Viennese tradition and an excellent violinist himself, while nurturing a number of students, including Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst. Unfortunately, many of his beloved works were forgotten during his lifetime, but fortunately they have been unearthed by Richey and are now gradually being included in concert programs. The String Quartet and Quintet are works in which Meiseder's abilities as a violinist are on full display, and Lyssy, as the first violinist, is in complete control of the ensemble, giving a convincing performance and powerfully expressing Meiseder's appeal.
