A special edition featuring All Days Records’ signature paper sleeve and obi strip liner notes, accompanying this release from “ONCEMOREMUSIC”—a Taiwan-based reissue label known only to true connoisseurs! A solo debut album brimming with roots rock vibes! John Cale, an original member of the Velvet Underground, was born in Wales. He demonstrated his musical talent at an early age, became involved with the avant-garde music scene—including Fluxus—and moved to the United States, where he formed the Velvet Underground with Lou Reed. After leaving the band, he continued to influence the rock scene through his solo work and as a record producer for artists such as Nico, The Stooges, The Modern Lovers, and Patti Smith. Released in 1970, this debut solo album consists entirely of Cale’s original compositions, with the exception of “M-11” by Garland Jeffreys. Sung over a down-to-earth sound—at times even earthy—that seems like a reaction against his work with the Velvets and his contemporary music projects, these songs possess a universal appeal rooted in solid songwriting, much like those of The Band, Leonard Cohen, Van Morrison—possess a universal appeal rooted in solid songwriting, and the more you listen, the more you’ll appreciate their quality.
